In summer 2023 I started working as a night auditor in a 5* in Paris, and since that period of time, people used to call to book for the Olympics (2024...in one year), we just explain that we're not yet opening that period for reservations...etc I finished my 4 months contract in September 2023....and for the next year (2024!!!!) I was offered for the same job...same hotel...they liked me.

One day during the Olympics when starting my shift (at 11pm) my colleague explained that he got a weird situation...l client with no reservation saying he has a room (he did not...we were full..no booking under his name) Since we do have more time during the night...I went deep inspecting that story...what I found was hilarious...There WAS a booking for that person !!! But 2023...and the booking was made through our department of

reservations...so..by phone...and what happened actually is the person from our department mixed up the years...2023 and 2024...for him it was obvious you can't book more than one year in advance...and made the booking for the same date 2023 not 2024....and I did handle the no- show and night audit that day in 2023...My name was on the booking lol He showed up one year later. For people saying you have an

bloedwre This week, a guest confused June with July. They arrived a month early. In Spanish is Junio y Julio

Minflick That's on the reservation department who had a duty to TELL the person that bookings for 2024 had not yet opened, and did he mean 2023? Communication would have cleared that mess right up. This isn't the customers fault.

Equivalensea I worked at a hotel that did do reservations more than a year in advance, and had someone show up a year early. She was so excited that she got a last minute reservation and for such a good price. She thought for sure we'd be sold out. (We were.)

Trailerparkqueen I'm going to Mexico next week, I made the hotel reservation a few months ago. Someone a few weeks ago was surprised at the great deal I got, so I pulled up my reservation to check to be sure. Yeah...it's for July 2027! LOL I quickly went and reserved for July 2026, but kept that great price for next summer too. Guess I'm going back next year as well!

Dr_MJI I actually had something close to this happen to me once. I booked a room and the day before my stay | got an email that I was being upgraded. I showed up next the day and they said I didn't have a reservation. After some investigation they said somehow my reservation was got canceled. They luckily were able to fix it. Exactly

year later I got a notification about my no-show and how policy was they were going to charge a night because of this. Evidently whomever did my upgrade put in the wrong year.

curtludwig I've been burned enough times that I go over my reservations with a fine toothed comb. Once, instead of a 5 day stay I was booked for 5, 1 day stays. The hotel checked me out and threw all my cr p into my bag -nilly. I was kind of miffed and the hotel wasn't sure how it

could have happened. I got a room upgrade but it was all pretty annoying. Another time I just happened to notice that I had a 12:30AM (half past midnight) not 12:30PM (half past noon). I made the flight but was miffed to end up at an airport in the middle of nowhere at 4am. I slept in the airport for several

hours... That was when I quit using our corporate travel agency. If somebody is going to screw up my booking it might as well be me.

OzzyinKernow I booked a holiday home a year later than intended once. Luckily the owner asked if I'd intended to do that and I realised. That would've been awkward if we'd turned up - me, wife, 6yo kid, dog - with nowhere booked at Christmas.
